With the new school year off to a great start, West Washington would like to introduce our new third grade teacher, Gunner Day. “This is my first year teaching and I am looking forward to all that I will learn and how much I will grow in the community,” Gunner explained in regards to this new chapter.

Gunner was pleased while describing his first few weeks on the job at West Washington. “My first impression is just how nice, friendly, and helpful everyone is.” Mr. Day is especially fond of the small school environment and the family-like atmosphere it creates.

When Gunner was asked what he loves most about teaching, he shared, “I love working with kids. They are so fun, sweet, and they just keep every day interesting. There are times where they drive you crazy, but in the end you can't help but care for them.”

Although it may be Gunner’s first year teaching, he is no stranger to the profession or in working with kids. Gunner’s mom is a former teacher and his sister teaches, as well. In fact, it does not take long to figure out that Gunner was raised with a great sense of family and faith. Gunner not only mentioned his mother and sister, but also proudly mentioned his father who is a pharmacist and his brother who is a personal trainer. Gunner pridefully shared, “I am very close to my family and I do not know where I would be without them.”

In his free time, Gunner enjoys getting involved with his church. “I am big in my church and help run the youth ministry there,” he noted.

West Washington is very excited to add a young, yet well rounded teacher to our Elementary School. Elementary Principal, Tom Rosenbaum, describes this hire well. “Mr. Day is an outstanding young man that is going to work hard for his students and West Washington Elementary. Mr. Day is a Washington County resident, who has pride in our community and will make WWES proud,” he explained.

WWCS would like to congratulate and welcome Gunner to Senator Nation!
