Senator Football

The Senator Youth Football Program is stronger than ever, and the excitement surrounding the program at West Washington continues to grow. The strength of the program is clearly reflected in both participation and performance. This past season, our 5th and 6th grade team captured conference championships for the second consecutive year, while our 3rd and 4th graders earned a conference runner-up finish. Just as important as the wins and losses, however, is the growth of our young athletes. With 70 student-athletes in grades 3 through 6 participating this past season—and an average of more than 75 players involved over the last four years—our numbers speak volumes about the consistency, growth, and excitement surrounding the program. These young athletes are learning the fundamentals of the game while embracing what it means to represent the Senator tradition, and the future of our program is in a great place.

The Senator Youth Football Program is led by Varsity Head Coach Jeremy Lowery along with members of his high school and junior high staff. This alignment across all levels ensures that players are being taught the same techniques, expectations, and values from the very beginning of their football journey. Our young Senators are not only learning essential fundamentals, they are also developing character, discipline, and a sense of togetherness. Athletes who participate in this program can expect to build a strong foundation in the game while also learning how to have fun, work hard, and be a great teammate.

The Senator Football program is proud to once again compete in the Patoka Lake Area Youth Football League. Over the past five seasons, this league has provided a strong and competitive environment for our athletes, as we have matched up against programs from Crawford County, Mitchell, Paoli, Perry Central, and Springs Valley. The experience has been extremely valuable in helping our players grow both on and off the field, and we believe last season was a tremendous step forward. We are looking forward to building on that progress and providing an even better experience for our youth players this upcoming season.

Registration and equipment sizing will take place at the high school football fieldhouse on Wednesday, April 29th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and again on Saturday, May 2nd from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. A parent or guardian must attend with the athlete who plans to participate, and families should bring the $50 registration fee along with the child. This fee covers camp costs, league fees, and the use of equipment for the season, making it an affordable opportunity for families to get involved.

The league is open to athletes who are age 8 as of August 1st through those entering 6th grade in the upcoming school year. Players will be divided into two divisions, with a lower division for ages 8 through 4th grade and an upper division for 5th and 6th graders. Games are scheduled to be played on Saturdays, with locations rotating among the participating schools, giving players the opportunity to experience a variety of environments throughout the season.

Practice and youth camp activities are expected to begin the week of July 27, helping players prepare for the season ahead. While the official game schedule has not yet been released, past seasons indicate a projected first game date of Saturday, August 15, with the season concluding prior to fall break.

For families who are unable to attend one of the scheduled registration dates but still have a child interested in participating, or for anyone seeking additional information, please contact Jeremy Lowery at loweryj@wwcs.k12.in.us or by phone at 502-523-9741. The continued growth and success of the Senator Youth Football Program is a direct result of the commitment of our players, families, and community, and we look forward to another outstanding season.
