Senator Basketball

With only two regular-season games left, the West Washington (WW) basketball team is starting to prepare for sectional competition.

In the last two weeks, the Senators have played against Crawford County, Borden, and Christian Academy. WW dominated against Crawford in a 78-45 win. The team fell short to Borden 50-45. On Homecoming night they boys brought home a win against Christian Academy with a final score of 62-41.

WW is starting to look to future tournament games. “The latter half of the regular season really allows you to prepare for sectional. You have a few days to prepare in between your games throughout the week. Also, playing three games in a week prepares you as well because in order to win a sectional, you have to win three games in a row,” WWBB head coach Ashton Minton said.

The team plans to celebrate the sectional draw together! They will have a team meal and watch the draw together, Minton said.

Calling all Senator fans! “Fans can come out and support our boys and be loud. These boys and this team feeds off energy. The louder and more packed a place is, I feel the better our boys play on the court,” Minton said.

The boys have fallen into a rhythm as they prepare for their next opponent. “We are usually watching film every day of some sort. Right after a game, we will watch our tape and talk about what needs to improve or what we did well. Then we shift our focus to the opposing team we are preparing for the following day,” Minton said.

On February 20th, WW will face off against Henryville, then a week later, they will have their last regular-season game against Shoals. Both games will take place at home, with J.V. starting at 6 p.m.
