West Washington is preparing to welcome future students and families during Kindergarten Roundup. This serves as kindergarten registration for the upcoming school year.
Save the Date and Make an Appointment:
Kindergarten Roundup will take place on March 18th and 19th from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Appointments are required for all families and must be arranged in advance of the dates for Kindergarten registration. Parents should call 812-755-4934 to set up their appointment.
What to Expect:
During Kindergarten Roundup, students will participate in brief screenings designed to assess kindergarten readiness skills. These screenings include basic academic skills such as recognizing shapes, letters, and numbers, along with speech and hearing evaluations. Additional information regarding kindergarten readiness can be found at: https://www.in.gov/doe/files/K-Readiness_update-10-8-21.pdf

What to Bring and Complete:
Families should arrive with their child’s birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residence. The pre-registration form must be completed prior to attending and can be found here: https://forms.gle/Sye3datYv8wjFatx9
Threshold Numbers and Out of District Students:
West Washington Elementary School has a threshold set for the number of students permitted for each grade. Once the threshold is reached, out of district students will be placed on a waiting list. Those who complete the Out of District Form earliest will be given priority if space is available. Please follow this link to the Out of District Form: https://forms.gle/2DPuzthoBLkHDVHs5
West Washington Superintendent, Keith Nance, explains the growth of our Kindergarten Program and the plan for managing this increasing interest:
"Out of district enrollment at West Washington has consistently grown year over year. Most recently, the area of biggest growth in non-resident enrollment has been in our elementary school, specifically Kindergarten."
"Our elementary school has excelled in academic performance outcomes, while maintaining the small country/family school environment that we all love. This success and environment have generated high demand for enrollment in WWES."
"In order to protect our class sizes, we must have thresholds for growth. Due to these thresholds, it is important that parents of potential out of district Kindergartners complete the OOD Form and schedule an appointment for registration sooner than later. Priority will be given to those that complete the form early if we meet our thresholds."
"In the event that we have an overwhelming response for Kindergarten registration, then adding another section and teacher for Kindergarten will be a consideration."
West Washington Elementary looks forward to partnering with families and welcoming its next class of kindergarten students.
