The West Washington (WW) Senators collected another win last week against Crawford County. The final score was 48-6.

“We played well in all three phases of the game Friday. I was really pleased with how our team responded after an early mistake and a rocky start,” WW head coach Jeremy Lowery said. Crawford County scored first, but the Senators fought back and held the Wolfpack to one touchdown.

“It was a great team win, with a lot of players making key contributions throughout the game,” Lowery said.

Iziah Dennis had three carries for 60 yards and a touchdown. Gavin Hunt had five carries for 48 yards and a touchdown. Nash Washburn added another rushing touchdown for the Senators. Gavin Hunt went 15 for 19 passing for 150 yards and three touchdowns. Colton Brown had five catches for 56 yards and a touchdown. Holden Russell had three catches for 41 yards and a touchdown.

“Like in our recent games, we continue to create explosive plays on offense, which is always exciting to see. While those big plays are important, our main point of emphasis moving forward is developing more consistency in our run game. We want to be able to grind out those tough four-yard plays when we need them; dirty yards that keep drives alive and win games late,” Lowery said.

Hayden Morrow led the defense with 12 tackles. Wyatt Wallace had 11 tackles, and Rolando Brookover added nine tackles. Holden Russell, Braedyn Leep, and Trinten Sears each caused fumbles. Charlie Armstrong, Nash Washburn, and Laken Allgood each recovered fumbles. Armstrong returned his fumble recovery 40 yards for a defensive touchdown. Tristan Brown added a quarterback sack for the defense.

On October 17th, the Senators will take on county rival Salem. “There’s no way around the fact that this is a rivalry game. We have a lot of kids who live in Salem or previously attended school there, so naturally, this matchup means a little more to them. That said, more important than all the crosstown talk is the opportunity this game provides. It’s our final regular-season game, and our focus is on continuing to improve our play and build momentum heading into the postseason,” Lowery said
