The West Washington (WW) Senators football team dominated the Perry Central Commodores on Friday evening. Despite traveling, WW was able to score 49 points compared to Perry Central's eight points.
“We were able to get off to a great start on Friday. Our offense did a great job with our pass protection, and we were able to get our athletes in space. Our defense and special teams were physical and created turnovers,” head coach Jeremy Lowery said.
“Isaiah Dennis had a big night and our guys in the trenches on both sides of the ball played well,” Lowery said. Iziah Dennis rushed six times for 61 yards and four touchdowns.
The defense competed to keep the Commodores away from their endzone. Charlie Armstrong finished with five tackles, including four tackles for loss. Liam Poe had six tackles, including two tackles for loss. Rolando Brookover added five tackles. Brennen Sears and Wyatt Wallace each recovered a fumble.
The offense played well all evening. Charlie Armstrong added 60 yards on nine carries and a touchdown. Gavin Hunt went 11 for 22 passing for 172 yards, which included two touchdowns and one interception. Hayden Morrow had six receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown. Holden Russell had two catches for 30 yards and a touchdown. Colton Brown added two catches for 34 yards.
This week, WW is on Fall break. “Fall break is a time we try to balance a little time off with trying to keep our normal routines as much as possible. Our kids normally do a great job with the slight modifications for this unique week,” Lowery said.
The Senators' next opponent will be Crawford County at home. “Crawford is having the best year they have ever had, winning four in a row at one point this season. They have a lot of size and they really get after it,” Lowery said.
Kickoff against Crawford will be at 7 p.m. on October 10th.
