CNA Spotlight

West Washington is proud to offer our students a unique opportunity to earn a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification through the school’s Health Careers Pathway. This program is designed and led by Health Care teacher Mr. Eisele.

“Getting a CNA certification can open the door to a rewarding and meaningful career, especially if you are passionate about healthcare or helping others,” Mr. Eisele explains. With a growing demand for healthcare professionals nationwide, CNAs play a critical role in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and even home healthcare environments.

Mr. Eisele started the CNA course at West Washington nine years ago, and the first class of CNA-certified students graduated seven years ago. Since then, the program has grown in both size and impact. The CNA course is offered through a dual credit in partnership with Ivy Tech College. This allows seniors to earn up to 8 college credits while preparing for their certification.

Students who are interested in the CNA program must be seniors and have the ability to drive themselves to clinical facilities. This training is an essential part of the hands-on training.

This year’s CNA class included: Avan Ewing, Abbigail Ferguson, Landon Holloway, Tevin Muller, Ryli Skinner, Bryanne Stinson, Misty Tharp, Gabbie Wilson, and Paige Wofford. This was the largest group of certified students the CNA program has had to date with all students successfully earning their certification.

“This group of CNAs was by far my largest group ever. With their determination, they were able to far surpass the mandatory requirements for the class. Many of these students will now be able to work as a CNA during college and be able to live more comfortably and/or require fewer loans for school. I am very proud of them,” shared Eisele.

Congratulations to this outstanding group of future healthcare professionals!
