West Washington Digital Day

West Washington is excited to announce its first ever Digital Learning Day! A digital learning day is a day where students work independently, away from their teachers, through a digital platform. This provides our students with the opportunity to practice and implement skills needed in a digital age for college and career. We are excited for students to communicate, collaborate, and create in a digital environment, to learn and interact, away from the traditional classroom setting.

The day will take place on April 8th. Students will have from Friday April, 7th at 3:30 to Monday April 10th at 8:20 a.m. to complete the Digital Learning tasks and assignments. Teachers will be available between the hours of 8:30am-3:00pm on Saturday, April 8th for assistance. The school will be open from 8:00-11:30 am for those needing access to wifi on that day. Transportation will be provided for those to sign up by calling the superintendent's office at 812-755-4872.

West Washington has been approved by the State of Indiana’s, Office of eLearning to use this day as a make up day for the day missed due to inclement weather. This is considered a school day. Students can expect to have four and a half to five hours of work to complete and will attend all subjects and classes as they would in a typical school day.

Schools across Indiana have used Digital Learning Days to fulfill the requirement of 180 student days in incidents of inclement weather, teacher professional development days and to prepare students for a modern learning environment. We are confident that we too can successfully implement a Digital Learning Day.

We are excited for this opportunity to have our own Digital Learning Day in place of the snow day on January 5, 2017. If we do not miss any more days for inclement weather before Spring Break, then the use of the Digital Learning Day will make the last day of school before Spring Break Friday March 17, 2017. The March 2nd day will be made up at the end of the school year.
