Staff Spotlight

West Washington Community Schools would like to recognize Jennifer Schook. Ms. Schook is in her first year as our Jr. High Guidance Counselor at West Washington and she is very excited to be here. “I have been to West Washington in the past to watch football games when my children were students at Crawford County. I never forgot the beautiful serene location and friendly staff and students here. I learned of this opportunity from Mrs. Nance, the high school counselor, as we were classmates at IUS. What attracted me to be a part of West Washington School are the people and students. There is such a sense of community and belonging here that is beyond compare to any other school I have been a part of. I am ecstatic to be here working as a counselor, and look forward to my future here,” explained Ms. Schook.

Jennifer Schook has been working in the pharmaceutical industry since 2014 as a purchasing coordinator/accounting specialist. Ms. Schook is very optimistic toward her new role. “I attended IUS where I earned my B.A. in English and Journalism, and my Masters in education/counseling. I'm so happy to make this career transition to do my best at West Washington as a counselor. What I love most about education is that it can open doors for every student to be successful if they are willing to put in the hard work and dedication towards their education. There are no boundaries for any student who follows this philosophy no matter what socio-economic status they may be in,” stated Ms. Schook.

Ms. Schook has a strong sense of family and is proud of her loved ones. “I live in New Albany with my partner Alfonso. I have two children Lexie, 30, she attended USI and earned a B.S. in art. She is married and lives in Evansville, IN. and is a scribe for an orthopedic clinic. My son Hayden is 26. He attended college at ISU and earned his B.S. in biology, then Bellarmine for his BSN, and just started at Murray State Anesthesia CRNA doctorate program.”

Ms. Schook’s favorite things include spending time with family and her cats Sugar and Blanca, thrifting, photography, shopping, cooking, and helping others.

Ms. Schook is in the counseling office Monday-Friday from 7:45 AM - 3:00 PM.  Please feel free to reach out to her with any concerns about educational, emotional, or social needs.
