Senator Football

Senator football would like to begin this article thanking the countless members of our community who have opened their hearts and shown love in this face of tragedy this week.  Your support and genuine care have made an impact on the young men who play Senator football, and we cannot express our appreciation enough.  Our hearts are with the Storms family, and we are certain the entirety of Senator nation shares the same sentiment.  Our community is special, we are proud to be a part of it, and we are honored to continue the great tradition of Senator football.  Thank you one and all.

The Senators snapped a 2-game losing streak, triumphing over the visiting North Daviess Cougars, 33-12.

“This was needed on many levels,” said head coach Jeremy Lowery.  “I am proud of the heart our kids showed tonight.  They represented their community well.”

The Cougars would draw first blood, taking the opening possession down the field and took an early 6-0 lead.

The Senators would match on their first possession, capping a long drive with a 12-yard scamper around the right end by senior tailback Greyson McCoy.  The PAT would prove good, giving the Senators a 7-6 advantage.

The defense would settle in on the next possession, and McCoy would put the Cougar offense off schedule with a huge tackle for a loss.

The teams would trade punts, before the Senators would score again, this time on a 12-yard dash to the end zone from senior quarterback Kenton Chase.

Junior linebacker Tyler Miller would sack the Cougar quarterback to end the next possession, and Chase would notch his second touchdown of the evening on a run from 13-yards out.

Senior defensive tackle JG Cruz would end the first half with a sack, and the Senators would take a 19-6 advantage to half.

The Senators would receive the second half kickoff and matriculate the ball down the field, before Chase would score his third touchdown on a 3 yard keeper.  The PAT would prove good, giving the Senators a 26-6 advantage.

The teams would trade scoreless possessions, before the Cougars would punch in a score to make it 26-12.

The final score of the evening would occur on special teams, as junior linebacker Hudson Cress would force a fumble on the Cougar punt return, and senior wide receiver Titan Williams would scoop the ball up and sprint 40 yards to the end zone.  The PAT would prove good, giving the Senators a 33-12 advantage.

The final North Daviess drive would end when senior cornerback Clark Nance would tip an errant Cougar pass up and sophomore safety Hayden Morrow would corral the ball to secure the interception.

The Senators are in action next Friday at Perry Central.
