The Senators have started their season off strong with a 10-3 record!
Recently, the team has been on a roll, winning five games in a row. They won 60-51 over Perry Central.
In the Perry Central game, the offense had a slow start. “As the game went on, we did some really good things that got us to overcome our slow start. I thought the defensive end was what kept us where we needed to be. Our kids are really starting to understand what we are trying to do defensively, and they are working well together as a unit,” West Washington (WW) head coach Ashton Minton said.
WW beat Rock Creek 62-47, Springs Valley 57-35 and South Central 79-68.
“Our team chemistry is at an all-time high. The boys are playing really well together and meshing as a unit both offensively and defensively. On and off the court, these guys are extremely close. Their relationship makes them a very special team to coach. They all know what each other is thinking, and that makes the game slow down for them as a group,” Minton said.
With nine regular-season games left, the defensive chemistry is at an all-time high.
“We are really starting to think and break down what we need to take us to the next level. To win a championship, defense has to be a priority. Our guys are starting to get that in most of our games. On any given night, we can have a different guy lead us in scoring. We have been very balanced the last eight to nine games with multiple guys in double figures. This is a great group to coach, I’m excited to be a part of it,” Minton said.
Next up on January 23rd, the Senators will take on the Mitchell Bluejackets again! Travel to Mitchell High School to watch! J.V. begins at 6 p.m. with Varsity to follow.
